Cut black velvet on cardboard targets14 x 14 cm each.
Facial Expression Studies for the Ecstasy of Saint Sebastian is a series of thirty-six images made with hand-cut black velvet on printed hunting targets, created in conjunction with sculpture The Ecstasy of Saint Sebastian. Referencing the famous marble sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, The Ecstasy of Saint Teressa (1647–52), the facial expression studies for Saint Sebastian are sourced from images of athletic competition and pornography.
